Samsung Gear 360 camera looks familiar

Samsung Gear 360 camera to be released soon. Check out how the camera looks and sample videos. Stiching is not perfect as for video quality it seems that its on the same level as the Kodak SP 360 4K camera. See for yourself:

The camera can create a live preview of what the Gear 360’s dual, 195-degree fisheye lenses are seeing and capture 30 megapixel still images up to 3840 x 1920 resolution, which would be a higher-than-average resolution than other cams out there. Two microphones also mean the Gear 360 can record audio in stereo.

Each lens has a light f/2.0 and see’s 195 degree’s fov. The camera can record video and with help of the new Samsung S7 it can stich and create timelapse in full 360 degree’s. The user can look around the scene all around.

Behind the lenses the camera offers a 15 megapixel sensor. Pictures have 30 MP and videos have a resolution fine resoution to work with. The camera can also record with just one lens but with a lower fov od 180 degrees and half the quality.

We don’t have any information about stabilization or is the camera water proof. Samsung Gear 360 comes with a mini tripod and looks super cool like a toy from the future and will have to wait a little longer until the camera gets into the hands of consumers. Samsung is betting on home video will be big on VR and it could introduce it to more people who would have never tried it otherwise. It’s in Samsung’s interest to let people easily create spherical videos and  more VR content to be created and consumed on Samsung Gear VR.

The product is supposed to retail at $399 and is aimed to consumers. This makes it a lot more accessible for many people then the announced a while ago Project Beyond and thats good news.

  1. Look all around you. That’s what you capture with the Gear 360. Every angle, all at once, every time. Two 180 wide-angle lenses take a shot simultaneously – and with just one click, you can merge them to product a seamless 360 image.
